I was going through my dads old shed and found a cam out there and was wondering how i coud tell what it is for? it is still in its box, but some of the box has been ripped, i can get a pic of the box and the cam if that would help any...

it wouldnt suprize me....really...that was my first thought...but i figured hey it wouldnt hurt to figure it out, if i cant use it i could sell it

Alright, heres the photos
It says "high energy cams" a product of Competition Cams Menphis Tenn.
Anyone have ANY info on this product, i see no part numbers on the box

it's worth it's weight in scrap metal. Used flat tappet cam = scrap metal for the war effort. Deliver it immediately to your local scrap dealer.

yeah i did some more research and figured out that it is to a chevy big-block(i think) so i have no use for it...might as well sell it $500 slightly used compitition cam good for the new drag racers...heh anyone think ill sell naa theres a bunch of old gm parts back there, and a bunch of old tractor parts, that cam, an old powerglide tranny and a bunch of drowers full of junk, i think i have at least a ton of medal back there...maby i can make a buck or two

The powerglide's good for a core. Been thirty something years since they produced the last ones. ( I think)

Those cams were a killer company in the late 70's and 80's. If the cam is used and rusty... they CAN be parkerized and polished.. but with out knowing the specs.. it wont be worth it!! Go thru that Junk and get the ole Ebay account fired up!! Anything can be worth a buck or two.. that trans is worth a few bills just for the core!!

Hey Dan, I noticed that you had a 67 fastback and a 390 " 3- speed " standard?? Was that car a special ordered car?? It was my thought that the 390 was the "GT" and it cam ONLY with a 4 speed ( GT) or a C6 ( GTA) I bought mine with a 289 cause I " Had a familey growing and wanted better gas mileage".... LOL gas was 28 cents a gallon in So Cal back then... Now the 67 has 544 cubes /dual quads and gas is $2.49!! but now I dont care...

Just me.......................

The 67 fastback big block Stang I had in the 80's also was a 390-3 speed ( toploader) 9-inch rear ( 3.00's open diff.) car. It wasn't a GT, just a std fastback. Don't recall the body style code, but it was just the plain jane fastback with a big block and a 3 speed. Had 4 wheel drum brakes, no A/C, AM radio, manual steering, manual brakes. Had the fold down rear seat though. Also happens that it would run 14's in stock trim with the 3.00's also. The only thing GT about it, was the 390.
