Cam position sensor

Well, i am having problems with my cam position sensor on my 2000 Mustang V6. In a period of two weeks I had to replaced twice already. Everything started when my car started making a squeaky sound, like if it was the serpentine belt. I press on the gas to rev the engine to see if the noise stop and my check engine light came up. I took the car to Auto Zone to check the codes, they told me it was the code for the Camshaft position sensor. I put a new one in, disconnected the battery to erase the codes, and everything was working fine except that squeaky sound. One week after, the check engine came back. I took the car again to AZ and the code was the same CPS they give me guarantee on it and I replaced it. Today same thing happen, the squeaky sound was louder and the check engine is on again. I am going to replace the serpentine belt and change the CPS again.

Anyone experience this before, what do you guy think this is.

Just the sensor, i changed it again today along with the serpentine belt. I did notice some black stuff inside the shaft, i put some carb. cleaner and i cleaned real good. How do you change the shaft, just in case the check engine comes back on.

No i haven't change anything on the car lately. The car got 60,000 miles on it at this time. Never had a problem with it, I changed the plugs and wires last year.

The squeaky noise is gone, It was probably the serpentine belt. I drove the car to work and back today, very smooth, i just hope the check engine light don't come back.

Is the shaft that goes under the camshaft positon sensor a whole piece, is there anything else you have to take off besides that in order to pull it out.
