i mocked up my new timing chain set (ford racing steel billet gears) along with the recommended steel thrust plate.

i checked the end play and there was none. i sanded down the steel thrust plate and got back the required end play.

when i fully installed everything (chain, gears, thrust plate) i had no end play. i was thinking because of the new tight chain, its not alowing me to move it.

the motor turns over nicely without a problem

is this a problem? is there something wrong?

thanks

I would guess your suspicions are correct, that it's because of the new chain. As long as you had the correct endplay before putting the chain on, my guess is that you're safe. Do you have your old chain just to toss on for the sake of setting your mind at ease?

thanks

i do have the old chain and gears. there was alot of slack on the old chain. and this new one is nice and tight. so i assumed it was the chain.

i'll try the old chain. the only problem is that i have to take off the timing cover LOL
