Hey ya'all! New here I'm 21, engaged to a great guy, have a zoo in my house, and I'm a mustang fanatic. A little bit about my baby: I've got an 07 mustang GT, bought it brand new in Oct. '06, and I'm finally getting around to modding it Its lowered 1.5", and has racing shocks. I just recently ordered a BBK twin 62mm throttlebody, Steeda t-body spacer, BBK off-road x-pipe, Steeda cold air intake system, SCT X3 tuner, Performance 4.56 gears, master bearing kit, and a set of 5x4.5 40 mm wheel spacers (not sure if those spacers are going to work, but I can't find any 5x4.25's so I'm gonna give it a shot ).

The last thing on my list for now is a new cam shaft. Unfortunately all those numbers are Greek to me

Here is the link to the page I'm looking at, anybody know which one would be the right cam for my car?

http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...=10001&Ntk=all

Thanks in advance!

Nevermind, I guess. I've been looking for quite a while, and I've come to the conclusion there aren't any for a 4.6L

Brenspeed, a very trusted tuner, sells 2 different sets of cams. They sell one that doesn't require new springs and one that does. The ones that require new springs will give you a rougher idle and a few ponies more, but cost $1000-$1400 to install. The ones that don't require springs only cost about $300 to install.

I guess you didnt look very hard. Comp Cams and Crane Cams sell 3-valve cams. So does Blow-by-Racing and Sutton will have cams soon.
There are lots out there. The problem is they give very small gains because the stock cams are pretty darn good.

Oh and they are expensive too.
the NSR (no springs required) will cost 1200 installed and yield 10-15 HP if lucky.
The beefier cams will cost 2500 installed and yield 20-30 HP tops.
What are the wheel spacers for? You did not mention that?
I suggest sending the throttle body back and use the money for something else.
I strongly suggest that in fact. If you must have a different throttlebody buy a GT500 throttlebody. THe BBR are total headaches and no HP gain.
Next up: Steeda Throttle body spacer. Send that back to. It is not going to give you anything at all.
Buy a good tune from Brenspeed.
Use that money for some sticky tires....

Thanks for the tips.

The wheel spacers are because I don't feel like getting deep dish rims right now, but I like the beefier look.

Actually, the NSR cams come in under $1k installed by Brenspeed. They picked up over 27RWHP at 6k, and 20HP peak to peak. Brenspeed doesn't inflate numbers. For under $1k, they're a great gain.

Thanks for the info

I'm not worried about installation. The dealership I got my car from will be installing everything in one sitting, and much of it will be done "under warranty". The owner, whose car I'm modding my after, has been bugging me to get this done for so long. He wants to race, only for the purpose of beating me, but its all in good fun. His car runs in the 9's, so I've got a lot of work to go before I can seriously think about trying to take him lol

9s? you mean 9s in 1/8 mile testing? Because if that is quarter mile, you have just a little more work to go

stock mustang is 5x4.5 for bolt pattern. a 5x4.25 will not fit FYI

Welcome, I just read over at the coral where ford racing is developing a new set of cams for the 4.6 3 valve thats good for 30 hp and 20 torque pounds, 75 hp and 46 pounds on ported heads. There supost to be released soon and it's said we keep our mid range with them as well.

Okay well not everybody gets that result. In fact most of the results I have seen were approximately a 14-17 gain. (Those were from Brent too)

I see she's not afraid to throw some get at that thing, people said I was crazy for going with 4:30's. I was tempted to go with 4:56. I bet it launches like a rocket.

It was just reported by Ford that those are not the Hot Rod cams. There are only 2 sets in existence right now, and neither are in a white GT.
