cam timing

anybody have any experience with adjusting cam timing? are stock timing gears adjustable?

Stock gears, no. You'd need an adjustable timing chain set. The crank gear has multiple keyways cut into it. Changing this effects piston-to-valve clearance, so be careful.

Experience, no. It's my understanding that, in general, advancing or retarding it 4° will shift the powerband up or down by 200 rpm.

retarding moves the power band up. advanceing moves the power band down. im not sure about the 4 degrees per 200 rpm though
