Cam Tool...

A while back, someone posted a link to a tool, used for sohc's, to..."lock" the cam gear in place. If I understood it's function properly.

If this makes any sense to anyone, and you can proovide a link of sorts, please do.

I'm attempting to get some cam's installed but, I don't want to pay an outrageous price.

Edit: Upon second look, can a stock GT make use of that? It says it's used for 2v motors equiped with removable cam gears. Once the valve covers are popped off, it becomes a gray area of knowledge for me.

Ah ****, I failed to pay attention to your car. The non-pi cars have removable cam gears but I'm not too sure about the PI cammed cars, I believe they all have pressed on/non-removable gears.. . . .

Anyone happen to know for sure? Cause this tool would save me as **** load in installation costs.

The shop I'm bringing it to, says they'll have to remove the entire engine in order to change the cams. I'm looking for a way around that.

2001+ use removable/bolt on cam sprockets and spacers. 99/00 use press on sprockets. so, yes you could use it on an '03. However, it doesn't "lock" the cam gear in place - you still need to apply downward pressure on it while the cam is out of the car, but that's better than tearing the front of the motor down!
