Finally got a video of my car with the cams in. The car STILL doesnt run quite right; Tim @ MPH is suppose to be sending me a new tune to try. Right now the idle is set at 800, and spark advance is at +2* through-out the band. Should the car/ motor shake that much? Sorry about the crappy sound, Olympus camera's suck for video, my old sony sounded awesome.

The car DIES at the end of this one, and at the beginning you can see me trying to keep it alive.

LINKY

This was the first attempt- I couldnt keep her running. [i think i mumble a bad word in this one , FYI] Notice the car doesnt start right at first, and the second time I try to turn the motor over I get nothing. I then have to swing my other foot in the car to apply gas to get it to start..

Suggestions and comments welcomed!

Wow, that's alotta jiggle! I'd say look into some polyurethane motor mounts!

That thing sounds mean. I love the exhaust lope big cams make. Congrats on the cams! I bet Tim will have your idle issue squared away soon. Did you do the install yourself?

When I had my vt stage 2 n/a cams in my car untuned it did a lot of that stuff.. Helty has a vid of how much my motor shook, it made my plenum rub on my hood insulator thing lol.. it shook a LOT, but it doesn't shake near as much now that I got a tune tho

Yeah i would think the same as above a tune will help out the idle and the vibration or if not get a shaker hood and it would look sick

sounds mad nice btw

Thanks guys, I love the sound! Its hard to believe they are only stage 1 cams. I love the power, I just need it to run better!

And I did install the cams myself. I installed them at the same time I replaced my head gaskets. At first I didnt have them timmed correctly so I had to tear it apart and re_time it. So I know the timming is 100% correct.

And I REALLY wish I would have put poly motor mounts when I had it tore apart!! GRRR

Mine shakes almost the same amount and mine is tuned. The shaking is normal. It sounds awesome man. Be sure to post some vids after the tune.

The thing that sucks is I DO have a mail order tune for the car w/ cams- its from MPH. Tim is working on a new tune for me because we think this one isnt working right....

And I LOVE the shaking, I was hoping it was normal. What is your guys' idle set at?

why?

if youre getting annoyed at it shaking now, stiffer motor mounts are only going to make you hate it even more.

The idle didn't change with my car with the cams. It idled at about 800 rpm's before the cams and that is still what it idles at. With 262's and vt stg. 1's, your idle should stay steady also. The needle shouldn't bounce around.

The shake is pretty normal, might smooth a little after the tune.
And idle at 800 rpm?Nice, that is where the cams sound good.Mine with the VT stage II's die at 800.Mine is at 850 rpm,and even then she seems like she will die LOL!!But that is the enjoyment of cams, lump, pumpy, and rough idling, just like the old school.
Once the bugs, and tune is sorted out,you will enjoy.

Thanks guys, and I set the idle at 800 with the xcal2. I love the shake of the car, I was just making sure it was normal. Id love to feel it shake more with poly motor mounts, thats why I brought that up.

wow. this thread is making me feel a bit better. read my thread above..or below.. the cams are installed one. just being an ametuer wrench turner made me pretty nervous when i first turned the key after the install. i just set up an appointment for monday and she'll be tuned, but no dyno numbers because its getting "tuned on the street". basically, he will tune it by feel, as he is..from what i hear around this area.. a very good tuner with the xcal. i hope it all works out, and him being a licesnced sct dealer and such, im sure it will.

I have bigger cams, but yes mine shakes a bit as well... sitting in the car and holding the shifter you get a good vibration in your arm... I love it hehe
