I went out to pick up a decent deal on a Systemax intake, and got an unexpected treat:

Said it made less than the turbo 302 that came out of it. But, it was 50xrwhp, and something like 530 rwtq. Also, said it was like 400+ rwtq at 2k RPM. Called his 1-3 gears useless with 3.73s.

This is why I'm so hesitant to go even 3:27 with my combo.

I make about the same torque (a little more) with the KB stroker and still have my 2:73s.

I'm about to overhaul the rear end on my rig and still wringing my fingers about the 3:27s. heh

3.27s won't get ya in trouble. I know you make a ton more tq than Black Jack, but damn it my 1st gear isn't ridiculously tall, and with 2.73s, yours is even taller.

I'll be adding traction better than my Cooper Cobras so, that should help reel it back in. It should launch a lot harder. Maybe I'll get more than just tire spin.

I will likely start with Nitto NT555 G2 tires and go from there.

I had the NT555's (not G2) on my blown S197. They did not hook at all for me.
I did move to the NT05R, much better and still handle pretty decent for a DR.
I've also had the NT555R, were about the same as the NT05R.

Recently I got a set of "street' wheels/tires for the GT500. Got R888R's for the rear.
These hook darn near as good as a DR, but handle as good or better than PS4S.
As advertised, they are a bit noisy, especially when new, but not over powering if you
have a mildy loud exhaust. They do run wide, this is a 315, barely fits on my lift.

I have 3:73's in my NA 347 stock T5. It makes 325whp and 395 ftlbs. It's fun on the street but easy to get in trouble. It's also not bad on the highway in 5th.

I think before anyone talks about changing gear ratios they should make their final tire choices.
I have run nothing but drag radials for the last 20+ years with 3.73s. My car makes quite a bit of low end and when they are warm, they do just fine.
If you sort by treadwear on tirerack, just look for tires 200 or lower.
Most tires on non daily drivers are out of date long before the tread is gone so i don't worry so much about how many miles I get.

The only issue for me now is that drag radial sizing has changed significantly. I like a 275/35/18, optimal is probably a 265/35/18, but it would seem that those sizes are out of favor and while i have been considering the 888r's, $400 is tough to swallow per tire. The nittos are a 275/40/18 and while that change is minor, it just may be too much height for my car.
I may match the fronts and use the kuhmo v730.
It just seems as if a switch over has been made to where road course tires are the dominant soft compound tire.
