I have the stock c4 tranny (auto) and was wondering how big of a cam i can go w/o affecting driveability (loading up) . my current cam specs are in my sig. Also, what else can i do to liven this thing up.

you can go up two sizes in the cam family you selected from before you run into problems with drivability, i would however go up one size(.472/.496 lift). set your initial timing between 10 and 14 degrees, you want 36-40 total, and all in at around 3k rpm. you might also upgrade to a 2500 stall speed converter, and run 3.55 gears if oyu havent already.

2.80 gears! Are you driving on the Autobahn?:D

Going to a 3.55 gear will feel like you gained 50 hp. That is the easiest acceleration helper/fun factor mod you can do right now. Your cruising rpm will go up 600rpm at 60mph. So instead of reving 2260rpm you will be reving 2860rpm.

If you go too big on the cam without changing gears, your car will be even slower.
So at minimum for decent acceleration swap out that salt flat gear for a musclecar gear.

I have had great luck with Comps XE line of hydraulic flat cams. An XE262H would be a great improvement and still allow you to use the stock converter. Matching valve springs are a must. I would also swap out that regular Performer for an RPM or Stealth intake since the intake has to come off.

If you are REALLY planning on stepping up the power, then a set of heads would be the first thing to order. Then build the engine around them.

I'd do gears and limited slip before touching the cam. Improved timing if still stock would help (and free). As stated, RPM or stealth or Air Gap. Swap the cam and heads at the same time. Torque convertor would also liven things up.

Just agreeing with what others mentioned.

Gears will hurt a little up top and help a LOT down low. Dun forget the "posi" :)
