Cams--I've been duped

what kind of numbers can be made with a B cam, i took the cam outta my car today, when i bought the car the owner told me it had an E cam. When i got the cam out today, it was a B, and the powerband based on summits charts is like 3500-5100........in my opinion that sucks!!!!!!


i was wondering why my car felt like it was always running out of steem so early.......... What cams are an option without drastic lift and such as that......Also summit lists the LSA at 107, I loved the way it sounded with the 1.7's but still. No wonder my computer never wanted to let it idle.

Also does anyone know what information you have to have to get a custom cam........considering it,,,,, Pricey but still possibly an option

your going to have some idling problems no matter what cam you put in.. heck half the people have problems with their stock setup.

Anyways... You may want to consider retarding the cam a few degrees if you want more top end.

But a custom cam will cost you around 275-325 bucks.. But depending on your mods it can be totally worth it.

They usually want motor size, injector size, race weight with driver, all the bolt ons and exhaust, how many rpms you want to run etc...

what does retarding the camshaft do? does that just move the rpm range higher or what.

I was planning on runnin a set of ported e7's, but i am even considering giving that more thought. and selling them or whatever

yeah retarding the cam will raise your power band, and likewise advancing it lowers the power band..

To do it right you would need to get a timing chain with multiple keyways.

i was just at summit and looking at the frpp one. it was something like 75$. I also talked to my buddy a while ago........he says he has an E in his garage i can have. He said he bought it and never used it...... would it be worth switching over

My Summit degree wheel instructions say that the powerband will shift ~200 rpms for 4° of change. Remember, you also effect piston-to-valve clearance when you advance/retard.

i may just put it back in like it was with a new chain.........the old one is very slack
