Need some advice here...
PREFACE: all three of these cars are black 93 cobras with grey leather, higher miles, could use some paint, and or work (but I am looking for a project cobra...)
So I've been looking for a 93 cobra for a while now, and I've found some deals here and there. You all know what they go for in mint shape and we've seen some wrecked, high mileage or salvage titled cars go for cheaper. So here's my deal(s)...
1. I found what i thought was the perfect car for me a month ago. Needed paint, but I've always wanted to paint a car with my dad. I have two months off this summer and some money to spend, so I didn't mind buying a 93 that needed some work. The drivetrain and engine were BUILT tough and needs nothing upgraded (thus not an original car, but i don't car about that) BUT the guy doesn't get back to me and i give up on him, thinking the car is not for sale or gone.
2. Then I find one with a salvage title, 130k miles and possibly interested in trading straight up for my 94 cobra (good b/c it wouldn't cost me anything = more money to mod the car) BUT I'm wiery of getting a car with that kind of a title, so i wait to move on that car.
3. Then I find another one, similar to the first, with high miles, built drivetrain, but stock motor and needing paint. Perks on this car is that the seller is a really honest guy and has had the car since 95. clean title, just needs a longblock and paint. SO... I agree to buy it. It'll be a nice project for the summer and a car that I'll have for a long time. Maybe I'll sell my 94, maybe i won't, but probably will.
I tell the guy who wants to trade for car 2 that i'm gonna wait, and he says that he's still interested in a trade.
Today the seller of the first car contacts me back, says that he's still around, but had a death in the family and was out of the loop for a while. My last email to him mentioned that i was going to buy another car, but that i was still interested (because this drivetrain really is already done, only needs paint and some seats to be a done car = just about perfect for what i want)
Now, common sense says to get the car that is the best deal. Well that would be car 1. but i already set up a sale with car 3, and that car is not a bad deal by any means... plus i would feel bad backing out. car 2 seems kind of iffy, but could be had for no cash, and i need to get rid of my 94 anyways (will never get out of 1/2 of what i have in it due to slipping tranny and the depreciation over the last 5 years)
I DO have the money to buy both cars (1 and 3), and am considering it. Cobra 2 is still out there as well. It just seems like a bit much though, to end up with 3 93 cobras doesn't it? I couldn't possibly turn 2 of them and finish my own car in two months...
I really don't know what to do about the whole mess.
sorry about the length, but i tried to spare as many details as i could!
