Is it just me or does that intake not have a hole for PCV? I thought they all had one at the back ( cobra,exploder,gt40 )?

LOL... you're right.. it's not there. So it's not an actual GT-40 intake! hahaha

I like these kinds of "stump the dummy" threads.

Dagger, NO ford passenger vehicles got that intake (until the 93 cobra). ALL 5.0 engined pass cars, including lincoln, ford and mercury got a mustang resembling upper and lower intake.

I can only guess that it is indeed a truck lower, as they did have entirely different intakes, and you're probably right by saying it came from a bronco.

I had an '79-81 engine and the head codes were E5... I know the newer Mustang 5.0 heads are E7s.... so Im guessing E6 has to be in between there somewhere. Thanks for the info. Im guessing it is a bronco lower when they went to SEFI in '86 or so. Anyone want this thing I have no use for it now as I no longer have the upper inatke manifold to go with it.

I'm sure that's true but you ended up with an 80's series casting. I'm betting they didn't just throw away their leftovers.

Thanks V8! Could we also assume that's it's from a 4x4? My train of thought is that since it had no PCV valve that it's from a non-emissions vehicle.

I don't beleive it's a truck intake either. Having spent some time in boneyards i can tellyou the 351 EFI trucks lowers look nothing like that. They have ports similar to the holley intake.

I still think that lower intake if for Marine applications.

Unfortunately i can't find a picture of it yet without the upper intake.

It has square ports

Here's the holley intake. The ports of the truck intake look like this

Here we go. Look familiar??

I just need to find out when they started using EFI

The engineering numbers are throwing me off though. E6SE is the number used on the 5.0 HP in '86 from the Thunderbird but also used on the Mustang, Capri, Mark 7, Town Car, Cougar and anything else Ford made with the 5.0 HO that year. The middle numbers are not the same however as the 5.0 intake. The first production car to get the GT40 intake was the '93 Cobra (302) and trhe '93 Lightning (351). That's why i think it's a marine intakle

That is also the part number for a factory 1986 5.0 lower intake manifold. Hmmm

last 3 of the Stang intake were D3A as opposed to BA. I think you're onto something with the marine application though. I wonder how that short runner intake would work on the street! Hmmmmm.

My only problem is that I can't figure out why the bolt holes would not line up with an upper for a GT40 / Cobra / Explorer intake. That and Im not sure what this came from.

They look like they will line up to me.

I'd be more concerned with finding out if it's a 351 or 302 lower intake. They are motor specific and the gt-40 style lower was cast for both.

If it is marine, i beive there were more 351's than 302's

i would say its a marine intake like the pic
and just a little side note all 5.0s in passenger cars used the same style lower intake # 's changed some but the bolt pattren was the same (except cobra) the 94-95 intake will bolt to an 86 crown vic lower vise versa and the ho and non ho motors had a similar upper intake but non ho had smaller runners and sometimes bolted on backwards with diffrent fuel rails hope this helps some

I wonder what kind of HP that "gt40" 5.8L marine engine is making.

from what ive seen, there are more marine 5.0's than 5.8's
im only basically knowledgable in ski-wakeboard boats so maybe bigger boats used 5.8's mostly
fwiw, all gt-40 gaskets should be the same from upper to lower. have the guy get a gasket, lay it on and take a pic
maybe he is wrong, this would be a good way to find out exactly what doesnt line up!!
