Can I change my header gaskets without dropping the K-member?

Unfortunetly I have a header leak on my driver side header. It gets really annoying after awhile, but I can neglect the problem no longer. Im really hoping there is a way to change the gasket without having to drop the k-member, does anyone know if this is possible?

Also how can I tell if its a header leak for sure? Under certain RPM's I hear a sound like little shots of air like pressure being released. Then sometimes I hear a ticking sound - but neither of these are constant sounds, they happen randomly. Can anyone give me any guidence?

It's really hard to do any header work with the stock K-member, if you are going to remove the K-member get a tubular one to repalce it.

Yes, but it'll take just as long, if not longer than dropping the kmember. I installed my headers by dropping the kmember, but my gaskets blew. I bought OEM gaskets and replaced ONE side which took about 7 hours. That's with Bassanis individual primary tubes. I imagine id be much more difficult with a set unit.

Start small, check the mid-pipe gasket first

run some Sea Foam through your car, you'll see an exhaust leak right away And yeah you can do the gaskets without removing the k member. You have to remove the motor mounts and jack the engine up a few inches. However, while its faster to do it that way, removing the K-member will take a little longer but is more stress-free.

I thought the mid-pipe was gasket free? I will try some sea foam I guess and see what that does..
