i bought a new in the tank fuel pump if i put the car on jack stands will it be high enough for me to do the job or should i pay to get it installed?

Do it yourself... it's not that difficult. Remember to take the fuel filler port and donut loose.

Fuel vapors can kill you! *sniff or boom*

No sparks... no hammering. If you must use a puch and hammer for locking rings etc., use brass punches.

Disconnect the battery.

Obtain replacement seals and gaskets for the fuel pump lock ring if they're not provided with your new pump.

No need to jack the car up. I did mine 2 weeks ago without lifting it, and its pretty low. And make sure to get some Ford fuel line disconnect tools, you will need it for the feed line.

One thing worth mentioning also... pick up the gasket for the filler neck. It's like $25 at your local Ford dealer, and it's unfortunately a dealer-only part from what I discovered when I had my tank out. More than likely, you'll need one once you pull the tank.

i have the fuel rails disconnected at the front of the car because im putting a new engine in. do i need the same disconnect tools that i used to disconnect the front lines? are there any other words of wisdom you guys can give me to make the install go smooth?... it was like 100 degrees outside today. your input is greatly apreciated

i forgot to ask... there is almost no gas in the tank should i pur out what is left and or is there a way i should clean it out?

I wouldnt bother taking it to a shop, its a pretty simple job. Doubt it would take more than an hour and a half for someone that hasnt done one before..if that.

Shouldn't be hard at all, but like daggar said, safety is paramount. Disconnect the battery and no hammering, welding, or smoking.

I just did this on my girlfriends 94' 5.0 vert. Put jack stands under the axle tubes, use the jack with a 2x4 on to help lower and raise the tank, keep dirt from entering the tank as best as you can.

You might need the fuel disconnects which I would purchase just so you have them.
