Can i Lower My STANG? and do Convertibles use different Springs

i want to know if you guys think this will rub...
its a 91 GT Convertible with
18inch EAGLE 212's on it
Tire : 245/40/18

and if you dont think it will, which springs should i get? I heard convertibles use a different kind of spring??? let me know guys... Thanks alot..

Will it rub? Depends on a few things. Do your wheels stick out or are they flush with the fenders? How stiff your shocks, struts and springs are will also make a difference. I don't know about all spring companies, but H&R makes seperate springs for convertibles.

Alright, I just looked at your other pics. Tires seem to tuck pretty good. So depending on how low you go, you should be okay. With the 18's in the front they may rub when you turn. Roll the fenders if you have to.

Definately get springs made SPECIFICALLY for a vert!!! The reason I say so is that our verts have been somewhat reinforced straight from the factory (windshield area,body bracing) to protect us in the event of a roll-over. This reinforcement results in added weight up front that is why suspension companies make a different spring rate for verts. Check my sig to see what I've installed so far, I'm very happy with my set-up

is there a proper way to roll the fenders? my friend told me to jack up the car and put a baseball bat between the wheel and fender then lower the jack alittle and start rolling the bat... is this a ghetto way of doing it??? let me know...

I have Eibach lowering springs on mine, with 235/50/18 and I have no rub. I have not rolled the fenders either. There is not even any rubbing on the autocross course, however, I do not own a convertible if that makes any difference. Oh, this is on crappy worn out stock struts/shocks too. I would say that you are pretty safe.

I have seen a fender roller for sale somewhere. I don't remember who makes it or how much it costs? I know that the baseball bat works too. Just lower it as slowly as you can.

I thought that the reinforcements were in the rear, and that the verts had stiffer springs in the rear? After all that is where they lost the roof. But then again I don't own one so I guessing.

i have a vet and it is heavier in the back for sure than a non vert, me and my buddy have essentially the same car except mines a vert and his isnt, and with the same springs mine sits a good bit lower in the rear than his, i have eibach sprotline springs and have been very happy with them.

I know for a fact you have to use springs specif for a conv, The rear of the car is very heavy and will make regular (non convert) mustang springs sag.... I tried it.... Mine sits like sh-t!! almost 1 inch lower in the rear But It makes launching a little better.....
