i've found a '96 v6 with 160k on it for $2500 but it has some rod knock
the guy who has it for sale wants another $500 for a 99 v6

i don't know anything about mustangs, but it's a convertible and seems to be a good deal. i can't afford to do a v8 swap now, so that's not an option. I just want to know if it's an easy swap, and how to do it?

thanks guys

You don't need the whole engine. The only difference is the upper part of the engine. They have split port. It's just a h/c/i swap except I think the earlier cams are better but don't quote me on that.

i don't need the whole engine, just the head/?/intake to fix the knock? or to use the 99 block in the 96 chassis?
do i put the 99 block into the chassis, then the head/?/intake from the 96 onto the 99 block?

If he has the complete engine, make sure he's throwing in the wiring harness and computer and you should be good to go.

It's basically the same amount of work as a V8 swap, except your tranny, suspension, and rear end don't need to be upgraded. If any of these components need work though, I'd start looking into a 5.0/5.8 swap.

5.8 for the win.

My 351 was too rusted up to be used, but they conveniently had one a shelf that had already been bored to 4.030 so they're cleaning it up and notching it and stuff. *drool*
