Can I tap main cap?

Recently disassembled 4.6 Windsor. Now the maincaps don't seem to fit. No damage to motor. Do you tap them w a brass hammer? Snug down with bolts?

Hey, yes, they are numbered w arrow forward. They were tight when they came out.

I haven’t done one in quite awhile, but seems reasonable. I know they are a very tight interference fit. Ensure all surfaces are pristinely clean. I found this video of a guy gently tapping his mains in place…it doesn’t take much.
