Can i use a 140 guage Cluster?

Cani just easily swap guage clusters from my 85 to a 140 or is there more to it?

No, there is more to the cluster than just plug and play. The tach will read wrong (trust me). What ya need to do is take the whole gauge apart. I can walk you through it if you would like. But you need to remove the speedo and swap them out. That should work, it might be off though. Mine was off I think due to my auto tranny.

I dont think they had 140 mph speedometers in 85. you might be able to get an svo gauge which goes up to 85 but has hash marks iirc up to 140, so an overlay with that gauge might be in order

just curious, but whats a good price to pay for a used 140 speedo cluster that read 73000 or so on miles from a 1990 5.0?

the speedometers from 1987-1989 and 1990-93 are not interchangeable I don't think

some 5.0's had the 140 installed in 89, those are the ones you need to look for. Or get an aftermarket peice

*sigh*...

i swapped my 1989 with a 1993 5.0 140mph cluster. It took a couple hours and a LOT of work. First of, you're going to have to change just about EVERY pin in the wiring harness... secondly you're going to have to splice into the harness to move wires from one side of the cluster to the other...

it CAN be done and your tach will be 50% accrate... 2k rpms = 4k rpms... etc etc...
