Can I use a speedo cable made for a '65 4-speed on a T5?

My mechanic friend was replacing my tranny crossmember, mount, and also a parking brake bracket which he put my speedo cable in the way of the linkage. Later after using my parking brake the speedo cable kinked and stopped working. What should I use for a replacement? Will a cable made for a '65 4-speed work?

i used my stock from my c-4 and my buddy used one from his top loader, so they both work, but one is a little longer i think
