Can I use engine assembly lube instead of camshaft assembly lube?

Im rebuilding my engine and in my haynes manual it states for me to use camshaft assembly lube but I dont have any, can I use engine assembly lube or what? Is it the same?

you can even just use a fair amount of engine oil as roller lifters really don't require assy lube, although it is better to be caught with than without. just use what you got and get that damn thing runnin already!! j/k

Yeah i used engine assembly lube on my cam.

engine assembly lube is what i have used every time. never had a problem.

I think they are the same thing. In any case, it's just to get you through initial startup when the cam would otherwise be completely dry.

Dont forget to prime your lifters.
