Ok so as soon as i put my new 306 in whenever i try and check the timing its at 40 degrees give or take a few degrees, this is where the engine runs best, (i took ALOT of test drives with different timings) if i try to put it to 10 degrees it will barely rev up. Whether i pull the spout connector out or leave it in theres no difference. I pulled the codes and got a code 14 or 19 i forget but it said PIP failure/Spout circuit grounded. I rechecked all my grounds and theyre good. I want to go ahead and change the PIP but i really dont know what that is hah and if it is what would make it go bad when i installed the new motor? Also there is a low rpm bucking, anything under 2,5000 rpm it likes to buck like a new person driving stick. Please give me some ideas.

Yes but my timing is at like 45 degrees advacned WITH the spout connector IN or OUT at an idle (its not supposed to do that) its supposed to drop down to around 10 base timing when u pull the spout connector out. Something changed and made it do this when i did my motor swap, i dont know what could make it do this???

is every thing else time correct (ie rocker rollers , cam, chain ect) if not your timing on your distributor wont be right

If you plug the spout connector in and the timing doesnt change than something is wrong with your spout or timing circuit.

The PIP sensor is inside the distributor. You have to press the gear off the distributor shaft to change the sensor & press it back on again. Most guys just swap out the distributor.

Code 14 - Ignition pickup (PIP) was erratic – the hall effect sensor in the distributor is failing. Bad sensor, bad wiring, dirty contacts. You have to press the distributor gear off the shaft to replace the sensor. The pip signal is used for ignition timing and fuel injector timing.

Code 19 - Engine off - No Vehicle Power (pins 37 + 57) or bad PCM VPWR Diagnosis. This is a wiring problem that is from a bad ECC power relay, bad connection, bad fuse link or a bad computer. The ECC relay is located on top of the computer under the passenger side kick panel. Pull the connector off any fuel injector and measure the voltage on the red wire: if its 12 volts or better, the ECC relay is OK. If the ECC relay is OK, pull the kick panel off and measure the voltage at pins 37 & 57. If it is 12 volts or more, then the computer's diagnostic firmware has taken a dump and is defective.

Engine running - Erratic idle during test (reset throttle & retest) - Idle Set Procedures
