Hey guys, I am a new (and proud) member of a stang! I jus got it this weekend, though its only a 1995 mustang, it jus got a new paint job and its the first mustang I've ever owned and the second car I've ever owned. Anyways, lemme get to the point -

So far the car drives great - the 5 spd manual is awesome and I love the interior. However, I have a slight problem..... while driving the other night the lights on my guages and climate controls went out.... and wont come back on. Its just the nighttime lights that went out, if i signal or put highbeams on those lights will still come on.

The reason why Im posting is because 1- I dont have the manual for the car, and while I checked the fuse box directly under the steering wheel, i dunno what else to check.

2 - Im a new owner of not just this mustang but cars in general, and would GREATLY appreciate any help! Thanks!

Also, my fog lights dont seem to come on - are they suppose to when the light switch is pulled all the way out?

I checked all the fuses directly below the steering wheel.... see the problem is i have sn95 mustang but no manual, so I dunno what fuses do what and where every fuse is located.

Nope... all the way to the left or right, no lights. Also, they turned off while I was driving... I thought maybe a loose connection, I pulled out the dash and reocnnect the wires to the dash, but still no lights.

turn headlights on then look at your rear light the running lights should be on, if their not on the head light switch is bad, same thing happened to me, also there is a foglight switch in the center console when its on there is a orange light in it.

Check fuse 13 - it's for the instrument illumination and is a 10 amp fuse.
If not, pull the headlight switch out (it takes 2 minutes) and look at the back of the switch. Look for a terminal having backed out or the connector.

Good luck.

Thanks so much!!!!!!! I checked that fuse, and yep its blown. I'll go and replace it sometime this week, but I jus put a new deck in and had my interior apart to paint it (back to its original color, I bought the car used and the dump decided to paint it). So I hope the power goin into the deck isnt causin it to blow and also since I had my interior apart maybe on of the cig lighter wires are touching. Anywho, thanks guys! Now if I can jus figure out my foglights...

Will is the story teller of our little 94-95 sub-forum. He tells tales of exaggeration and lore, as seen above. :D

For your fog lights, the headlights do need to be on in OEM form. There should be a fog light switch on the center console. There's a fuse and relay for the fogs - check those. If still no go, the power source to the fog light switch might be bad. You'll likely choose a new power source so you can have the fogs on when you desire anyhow. Most of us have done that.
Also check the switch - if a drink was spilled on it, it might have covered the contacts in goo and it not allowing the switch to close.

If you probe the relay's terminals (headlights and fog light switch on), that can give you a direction to go (Relays are like 4 way stops - when you see what element for the relay is missing you know what's missing and where to chase).

Good luck.

By OEM you mean stock? I just got the car, and the guy before me put in clear headlights and ugly euro tails.... Also you mentioned a switch in the center console, where by?

You got it. I normally say OEM form to refer to how something came from the factory.

The switch is in front of the center console armrest. There's a pocket-change holder and a fog light switch.

Good luck.

I'm having the same issue with my fogs? My switch lights up perfectly fine, the switch is clean the bulbs are new, the relays are new, the fuses are fine?????? this has drivin me nuts for about 6 months now. I'm thinking of just doing the convertible harness mod but I want to make sure they work correctly first. Sorry not trying to jack your thread, but with the info we get here we might kill two birds with one stone in one thread.
