can you rethread a crank for a new bolt

it seems that the person that had my motor before me must have screwed up the threads, and now that i am trying to put on a ford racing balancer i cant even get the bolt threaded back in and it looks like the threads on my bolt are messed up, i pulled the bolt out of another motor i had at my house and the threads looked a lot better to me, does anyone know if i can rethread my crank to accept my other bolt?

They sell crank thread repair kits if the threads are really damaged in the crank...most local part stores carry them.

i called all the local parts stores and none of them have what i needed i guess, do you know of anyone else i can try?

It's a special helicoil kit made for the crank, it was $80-$100 if memory serves correct. I'll see if I can get the PT# for you tomorrow....
