My wife gave up on waiting for the '05. Not knowing pricing and watching our trade depreciate daily we could not afford to wait until October (when our trade was out of warranty.

I'll be bummed when they start showing up on the streets, but at least my pocketbook will be happy.

Wow, really? How would you even track the depreciation on a used car from week-to-week or month-to-month.

So, what did you end up getting instead of the '05 Stang?

Well by the time October rolls around all the '05 models are out and our car is one year older. Also, with 4500 miles left on the Warranty, dealers get a higher resale on a used car than with no warranty. We just traded the Millenia S back to the Mazda dealer for an '05 Tribute S. It's a sporty little V-6 SUV for $24K.

I definately smell a wife's doing in this one...LOL
The reason i say that is because you paid $24K for something other than what you wanted because you (read: she) didnt want to wait a month or two. Doesn't make sense to me but whatever floats the boat.

Yep, I wasn't going to say anything, but it sure has the earmarkings of a wifely carjacking. And now the denial has set in, you know how the brain goes on the defense, goes into "protect" mode to insulate you from extreme mental trauma, to install delusion and delirium in place of reality to protect from pain and suffering. "Depreciation"...."Warranty".....yeah, that's it Dealers know that your warranty is just about kaput, they didn't give you a dime's worth of value for that 4,500 miles of remaining warranty. And your car won't likely depreciate in any real measure over the next two months. And what if it did lose $500? $500 bucks was the difference between spending the next 3-5 years with a Mazda mini-ute in the garage instead of a new '05 Mustang? Ouch.... Please take these jabs in the good humor in which they are intended!!! You know we can't let you off the hook THAT easy! A Tribute..... that's like eating at McDonalds 'cause the wait at Outback would take an extra 20 minutes, and you were really hungry... Next time you're ready for a car, it's your turn! Take solace in that.

Not to be negative, but the Tribute probably depreciated more when you drove it off the lot than your milennia would have between now and october. Bummer. If its not to late you might want to not cancel your mustang order until you check with your friends or fellow mustang enthusiasts to see if they want to buy the pre-ordered car from you.Any way all the best with the Tribute.

In some ways I can sympathize. My wife asks me at least three times a week, "Are you sure you want the Mustang instead of an F-250?" with a whiney tone, "Why do you want a car after driving a truck all these years?"

My answer of course is simple. I've wanted one ever since I was 17, which was 19 years ago and the first controlling woman in my life (MOM) wouldn't let me get one. Now - I have the $$ to get what I want, and I happen to STILL want a Stang. I suppose I could wait til 06 for the Cobra or whatever, but since I'd probably end up buying a new truck now if I did that......I'd better not wait! So - I've been a good husband for a while and though she pretends to not "get it", she'll end up loving the car once she rides along the beach in Daytona with me in it.

She got her new SUV last year, an X-Terra.........which is nice enough, but I warned her then - get what you want now, cause when my turn rolls around - no griping.

SO - dude - let the wife have her SUV Mazda thingy, and next time around - get your STANG!

It's a crying shame how many people lose their identity and individuality after they get married. All that for a little p*ssy to be able to afford a house. I bought my house and my car with my own money. That's why I'll be staying single for awhile...

I couldn't let this post pass me by. I am married for 19 years and have seen it all. My wife refuses to ride in my 88GT. I bought the 88 with my money. She has a CRV that we payed for as husband and wife. I also bought a Jeep Cherokee as my daily which she also agreed to pay for together. Insurance for the Mustang comes out of my pocket. I'm cool with that. But I warned her, if FORD puts out the BOSS I'M either buying it or leasing it. She replied"what about me"? I told her when it's time to replace the CRV, I would help her pay for it as husband and wife. But remember this I'm buying a BOSS if and when FORD put's it out. After so many years of marriage, I'm ready to leave the wife for the "BOSS".

All I know is that I lost many friends over the years simply because they got married and ceased being the individual I once knew.

When a man marries a woman he says "I love her exactly the way she is I hope she never changes", but she does. When a woman marries a man she says "he's not perfect but I can change him"

Well... "Gulp"... My 02 Mustang GT isn't ready to be turned in till March (3 year lease). At that time I was concidering getting a 05 V6 or GT. However, before then, I need to get tires so I can survive another winter (not for the turn in)... However, out of the blue I called up my sales guy to discuss some things and it turns out that I got into a 04 Explorer XLT Sport for less than the mustang. I only took a few hundred dollar loss by getting rid of the stang now and just padded it into the lease. I figure March is 8 months away and at that time I will probably get something in the mail within 13 months stating that I can get rid of the explorer (I might not even be ready)...

I will be turning in the Stang as of tonight and picking up my new wheels. Am I sad??? Very much so... Actually I believe this will be the first car I miss... Oh, and within the next two months Michigan weather will majorly suck so I will not even be missing it till around next May. However the Explorer is only a 2 year lease and I will be out of it sooner than my GT... At that time, if the leases are good on the 06 GT's I will get one then...

Oh, and I'm married and my wife didn't have a problem with me getting another GT...

Bill
