can't find doors ..need help!

alright doors on my 85 are rotted ..beyond repair.. i need doors so i can get my car back together and painted all all i can find is 87+ doors wich i know are diffrent.. whats diffrent? the trim at the bottom of the window i beleive..? can i make them the same so no one will ever know? i cringe at the very idea of using the wrong door.. i litterally have no choice.. fiberglass ones are expensive im sure..? and probobly..a pita..?.. these doors i found are also power locks window .. mine are all manual... is that gonna be a huuuuuge pita??? please help..
 
ok found some more info .... but what i cant find is .. isnt the inner door handle in diffrent location...??on is upper.. one is lower? how will this work? :shrug: anyone no anything about this?
 
The major difference is the window trim at the door. The newer ones have plastic discs riveted to the doors to mount the trim to. It slides off the door once you remove the screw at the outside edge. You can remove the rivets, but then you will have to weld the holes closed. As for the internals, they are basically the same and interchangeable. If you have manual and want to install a power door, you can swap parts over, or even change to power, but that would require new door panels and some wiring. Power locks are no problem, just remove the lock actuator and wires and it is then manual locks!
 
alright thanks guys.. no all i can find is power i want to leave it manual...how big are these holes?do i really need a welder? cant i just fill then with some plastic filler>? or fiberglass...
 
Use steel epoxy putty. It's as good/better as welding for that application. Go to Wal-mart, and they often have the JB-Weld stuff. That stuff RULES! But, you BETTER use gloves!

Once hard, the metal is at *least* as strong as a grade-3 bolt/nut.
