I've been wanting to get an alarm installed on my vehicle and was wondering if anyone knows a good place in Dallas/Ft Worth or maybe a big retail chain place they have used or heard about with good results.

I would rather have the dealership do it, but they quoted me four and a quarter for a basic factory alarm. I was like..."riiiiiiight...." . So now I am looking elsewere. If I am going to pay 425, I want a alarm with bells and whistles.

Anyone have any good recomendations on brands also?

Any help is appreciated.

I'm not in Dallas, but I know that if you go to a chain place like Car Toys (if they have that in Dallas) or Best Buy, it's nothing but pressure and sloppy work. I have had better luck going to a locally owned place that is not a chain. There's not as much pressure there because you will more than likely be talking with the owner. I got a nice Viper alarm in about 2 years ago and there's been no problems. On the other hand, I had my bass tube put in by Best Buy, and it was terrible. The work was sloppy, took all frikkin day, and they didn't even secure the tube in the trunk! They said they didn't want to drill because it was "too close to the gas tank." Well, excuse me, but I have seen countless other Mustangs with bass tubes secured in the trunk. Best Buy left the bass tube loose and rolling around in the trunk. I ended up securing it with bungee cords. So in a nutshell, I say stay away from national chains, go with a local shop that has a good reputation.
