Well other than my car sucking as and not so great performance I never really had a problem with it. But the other day the rpms got really low. I had just backed up and put into drive when it did this. I checked for codes but had none. Anyone else ever have this symptom? I can't remeber but I think it was warm.

Was the motor warm? If so, what is the idle RPM reading in Park vs Drive?

Good luck.

I am pretty sure the motor was warm. Now that you ask about the rpms in park vs drive, I seem to remeber that the rpm drops alittle when I put it into drive. Next time I am out, I will try to remeber to pay attention to this.

If this does not sound like something common I will not worry about it. It did not bother me, but I just trying to figure out the rest of my problems. (mpg, performance)

The RPM's should drop as one goes from Park or neutral into a drive gear. However, if your idle is a little low (slight tune issue, sensor out of whack, timing too retarded, etc etc), it can cause the idle while in gear to be too low.

The idle is naturally higher when the motor is cold (in park or in gear; the latter delta is slight cold vs when warm), so the when the motor is hot and in a drive gear is when the idle should be the lowest. Toss a burp into the mix and the idle goes too low.

Good luck.
