Hello, everyone,

I was leaving my subdivision, didn't have to stop, so I left it in 2nd, and stepped on it about halfway ,maybe a more, just to get going, didn't floor it.

About 4200 or so, maybe close to 4500 rpms in 2nd, I don't know how else to describe it, but the car "coughed" and jerked me forward (inertia, I guess, since car stopped accelerating forward, but I didn't) where it stopped accelerating for a sec and I let off the gas, it freaked me out (ok, it scared me good). Please remember I am very ignorant as to tech stuff on cars. I'm describing the event the best I can. After that, all was ok. I got on it again, and all was fine...

What in the world was that?

Thank you all.

Changed the fuel filter lately? Sounds like either fuel delivery or a spark problem. With a S/C, lack of fuel is a more dangerous issue, so I'd spend a few bucks (very few) and replace the filter...it's a simple DIY project that can be done in 15 mins, start to finish.
Here's a great how-to article...and from my experience, I never messed with the schrader valve...it's just not worth the hassle. Other than the filter being in an ackward place, this is really a simple remove and replace job. http://www.bullittarchive.com/html/modules/articles/article.php?id=73

Best of Luck!

Thank you.

I will buy one and replace this weekend. Is the one recommended on that site ok? ( PN Motorcraft PN FG-986B)

I will do some searching on how to check spark plugs, also.

Thanks again.

hello,

I looked for that part number (PN FG-986B) that I see on the bullitarchive picture, but neither Autozone or Napa has it.

Autozone has this "DEUTSCH FUEL FILTER" for my car (Part No.: FF686). Is that ok to buy and install?

Please let me know, as I want to do this this weekend.

thank you!

Tom, thanks.

Yes, I had the car dynoed recently.

I have gone WOT in all gears but 5th.

Since you mentioned that: I had never floored it in first or second until about two weeks ago. It freaked me out, because the RPMs once it got to about 4700, it spiked to like 6300 in a split second, and i let off it, because it was so sudden, I freaked. I first it felt like it slipped, like the belt slipped or clutch, or whatever (not a techie), but I don't think it did, or maybe it did. I think the supercharger when it kicks in, the car revs to redline in a hurry.

I wish I could have one of you guys drive the car, and tell me about the stuff you notice.

Thanks.

P.S. How about that fuel filter (Deutsch)?
