car hesitates below 2000rpms...

Like it says, my car feels like its being held back by something, only at around 1200-1700rpms though...Ive done a lot of tune up things recently, and I just ordered my new TPS from Advanced Auto (hoping that is the cause) but I want to get any more opinions of what could be causing this. It basically feels like the car is stumbling over itself and just doesnt want to go until it gets up to around 1800/2000rpms.

check your ignition coil and the ignition module these are notorious for causing the syptoms you are describing .Check for any vacuum leaks and clean your maf sensor

I'd add plug wires to the list of things to check. The nighttime light show can be surprising.

If stepping on the gas harder doesnt make the issue go away, I'm not sure I'd look at the TPS.

Any codes?

already have brandnew plugs and wires....like im almost out of ideas as to what it could be, I'll probably get an MSD blaster coil as well as the new TPS in hopes that this PITA will go away

Did you disable your EGR? I did and get this.. it is basically the computer putting in too much timing.. Running 93 octane really helps me out...

I had a similar problem until I cleaned all my sensors. MAF, IAC, TPS, ACT. I really don't know which one did it, but I can now go as low as to idle (1k rpms) in 5th with no bucking/bogging whatsoever.

thanks for the tips guys,

there is something a little funny about this problem... Even though the car is experiencing an obvious loss of power between around 1200-1800 rpms, it feels incredibly smooth still (no bucking, strange noises, bogging). Like the car feels like its running perfect, so I'm wondering if this could possiblly be a vaccuum leak? Or something related to timing? What sort of problems do bad timing cause?

Im considering going up to my dyno shop and having him look over the engine 100% and just finding out for sure what the hell is going on with my car.

It depends upon the situation. If someone is a comedian, punchlines will not be funny.

There's a movie scene involving a young man in the bathroom, and his zipper timing was off a little bit.

It really can run the gamet.


Oh wait, you mean about the car. In my experience, too little timing down low feels soft (not unlike how the car feels when it's super hot outside and the air is light). This would likely vary with regard to how far the gas pedal is depressed.

One other thought to ponder: if your clutch is slipping, you'd launch soft and then it would lock-up and you'd start to scoot. Possible, given what your car is doing?

The clutch is also slipping, so that is messing with me a little down low too, but this problem with the powerloss doesnt feel like a bad clutch, although its possible because Ive never driven a car that had a really bad clutch so maybe I just dont know what to expect. Could my semi-bad clutch make it feel like the car doesnt want to accellerate between those rpms? I was gonna order a king cobra this week.
