hey i have a 98 gt aod as yall know.

just recently been noticing some bad handeling..hitting bumps a lot harder than it used to..all the suspension work is factory...I was wondering..when lowering your car 1''-2 whatever..is swapping shocks/struts a must? Cause a lot of people on here say that they have kept the stock shocks/struts!..just wondering..

my 96 always had bad wheel hop and the rear bounced around and bottomed out alot, especially after the 2" lowering springs (maxspeed). i replaced the rear shocks, but it didn't help much if at all.

now i have a 95 with intrax lowering springs (2") and bbk control arms. it is 100% better.

BLACK 96..thanks for the input..i was looking at BBK GRIPPS..do u thjink my stock shocks/struts/arms..could handle a 1 1/4(give or take) drop..at least for a lil while till i can save some more?

I wouldnt do it. If you get that bad of handling your shocks are probably shot. It is possible to drop it and keep oem shocks but they wear out a lot faster. I had the same problem as you guys and after adding a set of Tokico shocks/struts and tokico progressive rate lowering springs, all the wheel hop whent away, rides smoother than stock and dropped 1.5" in the front and 1" in the back. Its pretty cheap too i would look into it if i was you.

if you are doing the work yourself, then sure, how much worse can it get? but keep in mind that lowering tends to make the ride worse, not better.

if you are paying someone else to do it, i would say save up for springs, control arms and shocks and have it all done at the same time. he should be able to install the springs and shocks for effectively zero labor charge because he would already it all apart to replace the control arms.
