car keeps dying at idle???

Running the engine with no electrical connection to the MAP sensor puts the computer into "Limp" mode with a preset table for limited operation. No vacuum connection to the MAP sensor probably does the same thing, puts the computer into Limp mode.

Limp mode is designed to get you home or to the nearest service garage.

ok cool. well i'll definitely get that sensor before i start driving it around. weird thing though...the car smokes more with the map sensor attached. at first i thought it was just burning oil off the engine, but i plugged the map sensor back in, and it gave me trouble with the idle again, and it started smoking out of the engine bay. i also noticed that the tail pipe has less smoke coming out of it with the map sensor off.
