Ok I just finished swapping in a 351w and am trying to start it for the first time...

Problem one. The Fuel pump won't prime when I turn the key. I checked all the grounds and everything, all look good. However... It does turn on if I pull the relay and use a jumper wire to jump the terminals. I don't have a test light or anything here as they are at work atm so can't tell if im gettin power at the control side of the relay.

Ok so I left the jumper wire in the relay so that the fuel pump is always on. Turned the key and still nothing. I am getting spark also so I know its not that. What else can I look for that would not let it start?

if all you did was an engine swap then you may have disconnected something. Check to make sure you have fuel in the rails. Also make sure you have the fuel injectors getting power. You can use whats called "noids" to simulate the injectors and watch them blink.

Ok well I did some tests and got a little farther. I found a easy sneaky method of checking if the injectors are turning on or not. I read somewhere that you can use an old injector and hood it up to shop air through the top then stick the bottom in a cup of water and crank it. If you got air bubbles coming out then you got injector fire, and I got that. It still ain't starting though even with jumping the fuel pump relay and having it run constantly. However... I may have found something that be a problem.. I took the distributor out again just to make sure my timing wasn't off or something stupid and when I took the number 1 spark plug and cranked it to wait for the compression stroke, the numbers on the balancer off the crank are like a quarter turn away from the marker.. So im hoping my timing chain didn't jump a tooth or anything, Idk what to look for for that problem... Any help will be appreciated as this thing is getting frustrating..
