Recently, I finished puting my car back together. It starts up just fine, runs pretty smooth, and even goes pretty good.

But I was just wondering how much slower is the stock intake making my car. The engine specs are listed in my sig. How much faster would my car be if I swapped the stock intake for the GT40? Would it make a NOTICABLE differance in the cars overrall performance?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

The stock lower intake is a restriction even with the crappy E7 heads and even more with your GT40P`s.

You would likely gain a significant increase with a better intake like the GT40.

Right now you have a major bottleneck with the stock intake.

put it this way, I'm running a ported stock intake on gt40p's, (ported 60mm throttle body) and my bro is running the gt40 explorer intake on his gt40's with a 65mm throttle body. The difference is night and day. To be fair, he's got a tfs 1 cam, I've got an ho oem cam, however, the difference is so night and day, it's obviously my intake/tb setup. He's likely a second if not a second and a half faster by seat of the pants feel.

You should notice a respectable gain by ditching that oem intake. My explorer/gt40 intake and 65 mm tb are going on next weekend, and I can't freeking wait.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate your advice. You told me what I wanted to hear. I'm probably getting a deal with my friend for his GT40 intake(with plastic shroud) and 70mm TB for $300. This would go well my my 73mm mass air and B cam. Thanks again.

They are a big restriction yes, but when i put an explorer intake on my car, i didnt feel much, I know it breaths better but you probably wont feel a difference, im sure youll notice a difference at the track, I went from a 13.5 to a 13.3

you go to a decnet intake, tb, expect to pickup 30 hp no problem

From going to a GT40/65mm from a stock intake/60mm ??????????????

Ported stock intakes are documented to make 280+RWHP on portred E7 or GT40 heads no problem with the right combination of parts that include a custome cam and ~260RWHP on mild cams. They will produce more average torque in the low-mid range than the GT40 style intakes - but averages will be VERY close over the whole usable idle-5,500 rpm range. They will both work very well for you.

I would highly recommend checking out tmoss's site. It has ALOT of good information on it with some great dyno charts, and it really shows you where you can take your stock intake. If you're not planning on porting your gt40p's I would recommend the ported stocker for the best combination of low end torque and higher rpm horsepower. If you're planning on upgrading/porting later I would suggest going with the gt40/cobra/explorer intakes.

T-Moss does good work.My 93 went 13.8 w/ his ported intake, the rest was all stock cept for bolt ons. But with your set up you would benefit greatly from a GT-40 or even a Cobra would do the trick, and is alot cheaper. T-Moss also ports Explorer intakes which compare to the cobra. Go to his web site and see the results.
