Car performance/stock intake

Dont mean to jack this thread but I was wondering about the GT40 intake. I have a chance to get one cheap and was wondering if its worth it to put it on with the stock E7's? WOuld I see a gain and more important will I feel it? I plan on doing heads in the next year but just dont have the scratch right now, Should I get the intake?

a 70mm throttle body is too much for gt40p heads, stick with the 65

Im going to have to say no. If hes getting a deal on a 70mm TB, why would he look elsewhere for a 65 when the difference is nothing. We run a 70mm TB on our GT40P combo, and I highly doubt it is hurting performance!

I would say, grab a Cobra intake and down the road port it?

A gt40 on stock e7's won't make a world of difference, nothing to write home about, however if you can get it cheap, and do plan on upgrading the heads, go for it.

When I put together my explorer/ gt40 p engine I did a ton of research on the tb size, and everything I came up with said that a 70 was too big and may actually hurt performance. Is it too big? Yes "WILL" it hurt performance? I can't speak from experience there, other than the research I did.

Hmm maybe I will bolt my 65 on our GT40P car and take a look. It recently went 7.48 in the 1/8th at 90 mph, so maybe the 65 will pick up a half a tenth or so, and half a mph? My guess is the difference will be nothing, but its free and easy to try one day!

please do report back, I'm very curious to see real world results on this.

7.48 in the 1/8th?!!!!!!! do tell, how did you do that? A tune? Mine feels strong, but if my conversion chart is right, that's 11's.

Stock bottem end with a rering, stock cam 4 degreed retarded, GT40Ps with 1.84/1.54 valves, 5 angle VJ. 52cc angle mill, 1.7 rockers, Cobra intake, 70mm TB, 75mm MAF, K&N, pulleys, AFPR, Tstat, FMS shorties, Prochamber, Hooker mufflers, 2.95 T5, FMS clutch, Al Flywheel, DS, 4.30s, spool, axles, all the suspension and ect parts to get it down the track fast!

Set up for NMRA Factory Stock racing, and although it wont run with the big cars, it runs good for what it has and the money we spent on it.
