Car Running rich...need a little help

I have a 95 GT. Its running rich and not sure why. Also now it just cuts off too. I know its running rich because of the meter I have in the car is reading rich. Cleaned out the idle control valve and the air filter and throttle body as well. Also removed the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator and that not wet inside either. So needless to say not sure what else could be wrong. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks guys!

Clean the maf real good and be careful

There are several good threads around here that can walk you through the complete process

what kind of a/r gauge are you using? i hope a wideband.

Otherwise, as aid above pull the codes and see if the 02's or maf are bad

I didnt get the chance to clean the MAF today but I called one of my friends whom is a ford mechanic and he said if you pull off the wiring harness for the maf it will go to a default setting and if it works, then you know its the MAF. Well it still cut right off if I don't give it any gas. As for the meter its just a ole cheap meter. Also its not throwing any check engine lights at all.

I'd still pull the codes (if your Ford friend helps you, tell him you're looking for soft codes).

If you desire, post up more specifics about the issue and the smart folks, like the two whom posted above, can help ya out.

Also post up mods to the car and how it was running before the issue arose.

You never answered what kind of gauge your using to tell you its rich. Its not easy to tell without at wideband.

Yeah, we need to know if you are using a narrow band or wide band O2 to determine your a/f ratio. Very important.

But if you truly are running rich, you can do like I did temporarily and make your vacuum line to the FPR about 4 times longer than it needs to be (still connected to vacuum and the FPR, just a longer hose). Then when the car is idling, pinch the hose (like you would a water hose to shut off the flow) and keep it pinched off with a wire tie or whatever. Now your FPR is seeing vacuum all the time, keeping your FP at ~32psi even at WOT, which will lean the mixture out.
