Car Runs Rough When Ac Is On

Anytime I turn my AC on my car acts up. The idle gets rough, the engine surges, and it is worse when switch to max. It's not everytime I run the AC, but most of the time. Also when I shift into neutral, the rpms hang at 1000, for a good bit of time then settle down. If I stab the throttle it normally will drop to it's normal point. When the AC is off I have no idle issues at all. Any ideas?

I've noticed mine seems to lose quite a bit of power and almost feels like you've jabbed the brakes for a microsecond whenever I turn it on.

i would assume that is because the computer is compensating for the extra drag caused by the a/c compressor when it's turned on...

mine does it too. which is why if i plan on showing someone whats up, i roll down my windows and turn off my a/c.

Demented, you are not alone on this one. My 01 does it, my brothers 02 does it and my neighbors 04 does it. Just one of those sacrifices we must make to be comfortable.
