So since its been 100 deg around here lately i decided to change my thermostat to 180. Everything was going fine till i dropped one of the bolts , after 3 hours of climbing all around with a magnet and a flashlight i couldnt find it. So i went to auto zone and grabbed another Bolt. Bolted everything back up and went to start it up and heard a really bad noise and the car died. I climbed out and looked around and didnt see anything. Tried again and the car wouldnt even turn over. So i was checking everything that i could think of when i finally found my long lost bolt... it was twisted and wedged between the block and the crank pulley. I got it out and started it again. Sounded fine.. untill i stepped on the gas and i thought a bomb went off. It started to shake sooooo bad and would barely move. What did i do??? Did i seriously damage something internal??

Please help!

And dont drive or even start the car till it is fixed.

PP and Pioneer make cheaper units which do well for most folks (I would have used the PP had they been in stock).

Good luck.

Good luck.

Wow. Same exact thing happened to me last week. Started shaking real bad, and the outside ring had separated from the inner ring. I bought a pioneer from Kragen for $80. I was reading my manual after I took off the pulley, and it mentioned to note the orientation of the pulley eith respect to the balancer. I didn't do this. Does it really make a difference? If so, could someone tell me how they go based on markings?

I did it but I doubt it matters. I referenced my pulley with 0* on the old balancer. THen I transfered the pulley to the new balancer with the mark at 0* on the new balancer.

Since people use U/D's, etc all the time with no issues, I dont see where it really matters. I could be wrong though.
