ok, i lost traction and my left side slammed against a 6 inch high curb. only physical damage is the rims scraped and a small part of the body near the rear tire. i think alignment is a little off. also, brakes are squeeking as im driving. could brakes be damaged? should i watch for anything else? rear slammed first then the front btw. well i think im getting all new rims now.

definately have the alignment checked. when you are having it checked, they should check everything onthe front. also see if they can do a brake inspection. if anything just have them tell you whats wrong with the brakes, if anything, and fix that part yourself.

Have your axles checked too. Were you being baaad?

lol. i was being stupid. some car behind me tailing my ass going up some curves. road wet, i waited for a straight stretch..a tunnel :(... but i figure it be more dry in there. then i slammed it and all 340 hp made my wheels spin from 60mph. i didnt think i would do that even wet. rear hit curb then front. man i feel soooo stupid.. the guy behind me must be laughing his ass off.

anyways ill stop by firestone or something and have those things checked out. how would i know if axles damaged?

on a separate note.. where is best place to buy cobra r rims?

Forum classifieds or Ebay for Cobra R rims.

Hopefully you didn't damage too much. I slid my first stang into a curb at around 30mph. The passenger side wheel took the blow. Result: cracked rim, blemished tire (but okay!), bent control arm, and a little frame damage. This happened in the rain, so it obviously wasn't MY fault.

well i didnt hit the curb at an angle. it was straight, rear tire broke loose, then slide left. after that hit, it brought my front left to the curb then i bumped away from curb. i drove home ok. didnt seem like anything serious happened. i noticed steering wheel a bit to the left now and breaks squeeking alot.

it is automatic supercharged :) 8psi vortech and whats that part of the body called below the door neareast the the ground on the sides. sorta flares out. does that come off? thats the only thing thats badly scraped near the rear tire

The rocker panels. Just thought you might have bent an axle, depending how you hit, a alignment will tell the whole story. It does remind us all "what not to do" when driving wet pavement.:hail2:

well, went to firestone to get alignment. they said my left rear rim is cracked kinda bad. so they decided not to align till i get it fixed unless i wanted it aligned with broken rim... brakes are fine they said. the cracked rim might explain a wierd "whoosing" sound i hear above 30 mph.

oh a separate note. ordering rims from hawaii is a bad idea. shipping cost almost as much as rims itself. guess ill go to a shop and pick whatever they have :(

i learned my lesson and wont do anything like that again...until i get everything fixed jk jk.

and thanks everyone for the input and info :)

ifyou hit bodywork then you managed to bend some stuff... im sure you poped a c clip so your rear caliper might be the only thing holding it on the car.

where do you get that from??? You're "sure he popped a c-clip!? The caliper is the only thing holding it on??" Do you think the axle shot right through the differential pinion shaft?? A bent axle is more likely the issue, but he can't be sure until he has the alignment done. Also, I would be checking for oil inside the wheel wells, as that's what happened to me when my axle bent. It was also obvious that the wheel wasn't tracking right when I jacked up the rear of the car and spun the wheels, the bent one didn't track straight (obviously) and caused the rotor to rub against the pads, creating a squeak.

*** Just read your last post, once you get the new rim(s) have it aligned.........that whooshing sound could also be a bent axle. You want to make sure you have all bases covered before it's too late.

Also, did they check your tie-rods well??

When I was sort-of T-boned last winter, which forced me into a curb and broke a bunch of body stuff (who woulda though?), it cracked my inner tie-rod, and destroyed the boot on the outer.. Could really tell until you got the inner out of the car, and looked at the end that goes into the steering rack..

I'd have to agree about the axle possibly being damaged, but popping a c-clip loose would be tough since there's almost no lateral movement, and the inner raceway where the c-clip goes isn't all that big..

I was going to ask where the rim cracked at, was it around the lip of the rim, or near the hub crown??

im not sure where the crack is but i dont seem to be losing any air at least. hmm. that whooshing sound is not a constant sound. it fluctuates like on and off kinda rapid. just checked around the wheel wells and dont see anything wet. ill jack the car up and check it out too. man, the rims wont be in till friday or monday. guess i wont drive it till then. any more signs i should look out for?

update: just jacked the car up and spun the wheel. how hard should it be to spin? anyways, as i was spinning it, i think it got a little harder to spin at a certain point in the revolution. it wasnt THAT much harder but im pretty sure there is a discrepency. is that something an alignment can fix? is changing axles out a big deal?

Man, you didn't expect to break traction at 340 hp? I expect to break traction in even the slightest moisture full throttle in almost any scenario if I'm anywhere up in my rpms. Maybe I just have really ****ty tires *ponder*

Edit: woops, it's surprizing because I have that feeling on just 220-230 hp, so maybe I really do have crappy tires. Even in dry, going WOT from a stop makes me break loose on the top end.
