well today i was heading towards camarillo.... and the freeway had a slight downhill.... so i decided to put it in neutral so the engine wont be revved..... then out of no where i started to feel like the steering wheel was hard... and i hit the brakes.. and it hardly braked... then i looked at my cluster and i see the rpm needle at 0 and all my cluster lights on.... it had stalled... so i tried turning it on and it turned on perfect... gas it a few times and it felt normal... what do you guys think could of happened?? after that.... the car ran normal again... i had a lil over 1/2 a tank of gas and the downhill was bout 30 degrees... so it wasnt that steep.... anyone know??

The infamous Mustang no-reason-stall. It's something they do from time to time and noone has been able to come up with a legitimate cause.

The IAC can cause this. It is intermittent as it gradually fails...

i have had many cars different brands that have done that same thing to me in the past. I say it must be a glitch in the engine management system. Like stated above could be iac or tps.

truth. its the IAC (idle air control) valve. they "go out" because they get carbon built up in them and cant flow as well. mine started doing the same thing. trick is, take a heavy wrench, ratchet, or other heavy metal object and tap the IAC valve a few times. it breaks up the carbon inside. i tapped mine when it started stalling on me about 7-8 months ago and im running good still. saved ~$80 by not replacing it.

Most likely its the IAC. At our dealership mustangs come in ALL the time with the problem you just described. Its the IAC almost every time.

Yea mine was starting to stall not to long ago...took off the IAC and cleanded it with carb and break cleaner...then sprayed in WD40 to make sure everything was all smooth and slick.

Idle when coming to a stop went away. (and yea it did it when new EVERY once in a while...just shut off. Even my dads 00 V6 stang did it before)
