Car starts then dies?

Got a 97 Cobra and about half the time whenever i crank it, starts and revs up to about 2K and dies no matter if i give it gas or not.

Car has been running bad lately so i change the plugs and it runs significantly better. About half the time it starts up and runs great but the other half of the time it just revs up and dies.

Any ideas?

In the GTs the IAC causes those same symptoms. That'll be something to look into.

IAC is likely. Common problem.

Thats what mine did and it was the IAC, try taking it off and cleaning it with Brake Cleaner and see if that helps.

IAC. I think mine is starting to go. My car doesnt Idle as well as it used to. You can buy one at the dealer or from www.50resto.com

Another vote for the IAC. I cleaned mine and the problem went away temporarily, so i just bought a new one.
