woo havent been on in forever. i got my lx tails in, new 5.0 emblems, door lock actuator, and door pannel pins. i forgot the actuator rivet somehow so i ordered that, a new hood prop holder (mine broke) and lower shift boot. that stuff is due here friday, and saturday im visiting a college in the AM, then the sanding and masking begins, were gonna sand it sat night, all sunday, and however much of monday and tuesday night we need. im supposed to be getting my new axle to replace the bent one soon too, and there gonna help me put my door lock actuator in and tighten my window tracks. so when my car comes out it will be either silver, or the stock color, have lx tails, new 5.0 emblems, removed ford emblem on the back. no more rattling loose rivet, fixed rear bumper cover, were gonna tack the heatplate in place, fix my axle hopefully and get my door lock actuator done, and window tracks tightened. car wont be done till after the weekend after thanksgiving. then i gotta change the oil and let my debit card harden back from being melted. spending 600 dollars in 2 weeks really blows.

will post before and after and maybe some progress pics off my phone as its going on. keep checking back. :SNSign:

If I were closer to you and your car is still 4 lug, I would let you take an axle off my hands for VERY cheap...

Good to hear your gettin' things done!!

Got a 9 inch rear housing, 3 pumpkins, 2 sets of 9 inch axles, 2 sets of backing plates as well..all taking up space in the garage....(9 inch stuff will stay with me though)

if my deal with an axle falls through i can pay pal you money, if you ship it. you can add the cost of shipping to how much you want for it. i dunno how to work pay pal yet though, so you may have to help.

That is IF, i dont get the one my friends dad's employee is getting from his dad for me.

shes all sanded down and ready for paint. my carfax said clean title, but the things been repainted completley, fixed damage on roof where something fell on it, and wrecked. great. we fixed the hail damage on my hood, the crack in my bumper, and other crap. im gonna repaint the same color. i feel wierd without it, im goin to do some more work on it after school tomorrow. i decided to get lx taillights to work somehow, and i moved my front plate to my winshield and filled in the holes in my bumper in the front.

can someone explain to me how to get the lenses off taillights, and if i can return lenses to latemodel?

thanks.

Keep up the good work. All the prep will make the results better.

P.S. In Illinois, putting the license plate in the windshield is improper display of license plate, a nonmoving violation. Hate to see you put holes in the bumper, but would hate to have you pay a ticket too. Maybe your state doesn't have a requirement on front plate, some states you don't even have to have a front one on.

It's still illegal. The defense "Everyone else doesn't" won't go over well in an appeal

Yes, the law states that the lisence plate must be displayed a mininum of so many inches off the ground and a max of so many inches. I forget the numbers but that is the law for all states requiring a front plate.

Putting it on the dash exceeds the maximum display height of the plate so it's technically ticketable

I found this on the following Virginia site:
http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/courts/gendist/paylist.htm#Equipment
Failure to display license plate
Statute: 46.2-711
Fine: $25
Processing Fee: $57
Total: $82

Improper display of license plate
Statute: 46.2-715
Fine: $25
Processing Fee: $57
Total: $82

Improperly mounted license plates
Statute: 46.2-716
Fine: $25
Processing Fee: $57
Total: $82

I was trying to find a site that said how it is to actually be displayed, but had no luck. I did find a site that is petitioning to get rid of the front plate.

What gearsare in the car right now? Perfect time to do gears while the axle is pulled, around 1/3 of the job done! Plus gear lube is pricey so why buy another case if you're ever gonna get some good gears in it... nah mean?

south carolina doesnt even have front liscense plates.. most cops care less about the nonmovin violations and tint and all.. just the street racing and stop lights/red light runnings are the big thing here

i still got the stock 2.73's in it. i was gonna do this, but this mans helping me out for free and giving me a free axle, so i dont want to take more of his time putting the gears in and the speedo cable gear and all. i did think about this though. i only have about 60 dollars to my name right now anyways. this is fixing the axle i bent when i hit a curb also, its kinda messed up to reward yourself with gears for spining out in the rain.

its kinda one of those deals where i just want a normal stock axle back in there so i can forget it ever happened and wash my hands of it.

Pretty cool man, and in Florida we dont need to run front plates. Id rather run front plates though then have it in the windshield, that looks horrible.

fyi, i used to live in northern VA and got several tickets for no front plate on my old 350z. Each time I beat it by contesting it online and attaching a pic of the front bumper which had no plate bracket or holes. I just said that I bought it from out of state and that there was no way to mount the plate. Worked like a charm all 3 times .
