So I went to leave for work this morning to find out my car had been broken into. my drivers side door lock is messed up, cd player ripped out of the dash(cut the wires), radar detector is gone, ignition cylinder is messed up, my phone charger and my tool set also gone.

So much for a gated community with security. I didn't get a garage because it was too expensive but now I wish I had. Filed a claim with my insurance company so it looks they will cover the door locks/ignition, cd player, wiring harness, and the trim panels they broke to get to the cd player. But they are not covering any of the other stuff. :notnice:

It really pisses me off because I bet it was someone that lives in the community.

Looks like i'm going to have to get a garage after all. It's expensive but its a lot better security for my vehicle and I'll also have a place to work on it. I'm just lucky they didn't steal the whole car!

that's also what prompted me to invest in a good alarm

And I was going to ask, You dont have an alarm? I like my alarm, lol all the features. Just breathe on it and ur asking for trouble:D To detour most would be theifs. Plus the good old bat and rifle jic I catch them in the act. Most ppl who know me know I find chit out and well lets just leave it at that:rolleyes: . But be glad about one thing, they didnt cut ur top to get in. I know the S2000's they cut the top and steal the shifter, steering wheel, and seats. Always the same things too, lol.

Oh and sorry to hear about it man. If you find out who did it, Whoop some arse! lol

Man that sucks, my car was also broken into in October, but I'm pretty sure the alarm is what saved it. They busted my side quarter window (those bastards are expensive!!!) and managed to pop the lock, but as soon as they opened the door the alarm went off and they must've ran-away, because NOTHING was touched inside, not even the CD case sitting right there in plain sight.

New window was gonna be just over $1000  but I got a used one from prestigemustangs.com for $75. I have a $1000 deductable on the 'stang, so I didn't bother making a call.

Anyways, I'm very happy they didn't cut the top to get in, then I probably would've cried... I'd highly recommend getting an alarm with at least a starter kill and 2-way communication (remote pages you when alarm goes-off in case you are not close to the car). This kind of chit can really bring a guy down :(

hopefully the adjuster comes out tomorrow so I can get this rolling. It is absolutely horrible commuting to work without a stereo!!! I want to get this all fixed and out of the way.

I went ahead and bought another alpine head unit, got the Alpine CDA-9887. Its a pretty badass headunit so atleast I'll get a nicer head unit out of the deal.

Yes I am kicking myself for not having an alarm. I have put so much money into my car and I'm a dumbass for not protecting it! :nonono:

I am definitely getting one before I put my new headunit in. I have been looking at the ones with a 2 way pager so if the car alarm goes off. I'll be notified on the pager up to a 1/2 mile away. I checked out bestbuy but they really didn't have a good selection so I'm going to head to a local audio shop and see what they can do for me. Any suggestions on brands? I've been looking at viper alarms...

my bands singer has this extremely complex alarm where if someone touches your car it notifies you, tells you where its touched.

i am not sure if my alarm is factory, but its a good one.

i'll go to a gas station [ i dont have to pump my own gas, NJ] pull up, roll down the windows, turn the car off, and by the time its done filling, the red light on my dash is on, and i have to take my keys out and press unlock on the keyfob, or i can't start the car.

i couldn't imagine not having an alarm in my area. i go to school in a decently bad neighborhood. if my rims were nice enough i'd be walking out to a car on blocks after school.
