I took out my tranny (AOD) to replace the rear main seal. Made sure that the fluid levels were good after shifting through all the gears. The tranny was slipping at first which I assume is normal until the fluid gets moved around. The slipping eventually disappeared. When I took it around the block the car would not shift into 2nd. I was driving it slowly (about 20-25) usually the car would shift around that speed. Also I installed a high stall converter (2000-2400). I was wondering how long is the break in time and if it is ok to push it a little harder since I changed the torque converter. Also there was some smoke but I did get a lot of oil and grease on the exhaust when I was taking it out. Thanks again

Are you sure you properly adjusted your tv cable upon reinstallation? This is critical, and you can quickly wreck an AOD by driving around with one that is not adjusted right.

I don't know how to adjust them myself as I don't own a car with an AOD..... Hopefully someone will chime in here. May want to do a search, or scope out the link below

Good luck.

It has been a while since my car was an AOD cause I converted to a manual, but if I remember something right I think you hold down the gas pedal and tighten it from there, I could be wrong though like I said it has been a while!!!

If you didnt disconnect the TV cable from the throttle body than you shouldnt have to adjust it. Have you check the fluid since you put a different converter in. You said it was slipping first then it stopped. Check the fluid level.
