waiting to turn left on Ford RD onto Haggerty my car decided to die. Caused a nice line of angry Canton-ites to freak out. A guy in a sxt neon, mildly modded, of all people helped me to push her into a gas station(+1 for the neons out there). Would crank, nothing else.
I suspect the pump because a few issues recently
-in the fall I thought my gas guage stopped reading right, at an 1/8 tank, the car died. Put fuel in and it started right up. Never let it get that low again.
- at highway speeds, it sometimes pops the 1071 annd 1074 codes. together. This happens very rarely. Checked and resealed everything including the intake. I concluded i was pegging the comps parameters and just needed a tune. maybe fuel pressure started to falter?
tech:
Quickest check to see if the pump is bad? I turn the key and here something switching on the front passenger side of the engine but nothing from the rear of the car.
Tomorrow i will check out the relay, the fuses and what not. also, if it is the pump, will I be able to find one quickly(Murrary's autozone etc.)? should I attempt it in a apartment complex parking lot? read over the how to's and doesn't seem complicated at all, just a pain. Can bring all tools needed in a pickup truck. Sounds crazy but i rather not strap and tow 12 miles to the parents(its how I got it here). Its the 98 btw.
Bit long winded sorry.
