So everytime I put gas in the tank the car has a hard time starting. I have to keep the ignition on and pump the gas, just to get it to turn over. Afterwards the rpms drop a bit off of idle and sometimes it dies.
This happens EVERTIME I put gas in the car, no mater what the amount, although it doesnt seem to happen when I just open the gas tank.
Also, at times, the cars rmps will drop off idle when i first stath the car in the morning, causing it to die. Im wondering if i have some sort of fuel delivery problem? Help Please!

Would it have anything to do with pressurization and the fuel cap?

Car has alittle over 40000 on the odometer. I hav replaced the fuel filter twice, last time was about 3 weeks ago, i was hoping to correct this problem. This has been going on for about 3 months. Once the car is started it seems to run fine, its just on startup

Im not sure if its the fuel cap, because as I said when i take the cap off it doesnt do it, only when i actually add fuel. Also when i start the car in the morning the cap is on already.

IAC may be bad. That shouldn't have anything to do with filling the fuel but is a common problem with the symtoms you give.

I believe that this is actually the know "difficult warm-start" issue and has nothing to do with gas other than getting gas is a short stop and when he tries to start it back up it is very warm.

I suspect that if he brings it up to temp in his drive way, shuts it off for approx the time to pump gas, and then tries to start it he will have the same hard start problem.
