I'm new to this site, and own a '65 coupe that I purchased from a friend, after seeing it neglected out in the weather for several years. The car originally had a 289 with a 2bbl carb which was (from the looks of it) missing some parts. It was no where near running. I trailered it home, and am in the process of making it road worthy.

I have changed the intake and carb to an Edelbrock 4bbl setup, and now the car runs at least. My problem is the rod that connectes the accelerator pedal to the throttle lever on the carb. The original one no longer works, and I used a piece of threaded rod from Home Depot that I bent myself to get things running. Is there a better way to do this? I had to bend the rod in several places to get the transmission kick down to work, and it just looks very home made. Is it possible to switch this over to a cable setup? There have to be plenty of 65/66 coupes out there with Edelbrock intakes, so I'm hoping that I'm just overlooking something obvious. (This is my first Mustang, and my previous auto experience has always been with fuel injection.)

Thanks!
Grant

I would like to know about a good cable set up also..Someone has to make a conversion.

You can buy a replacement throttle rod from any Mustang restoration site. Depending on what kind of carb you have they make a piece to fit the A/T kickdown to their carb. I have a Holley carb and in the owners manual it gives the part # of the A/T kickdown adapter.
