Even though I have no experience with a Demon they should function no different than a Holley. When your engine is idling and you turn the air/fuel screws all the way in does it kill the engine or have any effect on the idle quality at all? This will determine whether or not it is the carb idle circuit or something else. If it has no effect than you need bigger diameter air bleeds (if they are the screw in type) or you will have to open the rear throttle plate slightly to get more air into the engine to lean out the a/f signal.

Bryan- I just checked the ignition wire, and it has 17.33 volts going to the distributor...so we are good there.

Steve- I will put some miles on it as soon as the car is insured for driving, and registered...but I need to get the thing finished, and appraised before I can get insurance.

TheHuey- The throttle plates are VERY touchy. When they are set low enough, the idle screws make a difference. However turn them up just a tad too much, and it begins sucking gas from the transfer slots and then it's sick rich.

Still working on it though...

UPDATE-

I just want to thank everyone who chimed in and helped me with this. It is now running liked a raped ape, and I couldn't be happier.

MSTNGJOE- dude, that info you sent me should just be on a website somewhere for download. The ignition advance at idle was one of the MAIN reasons the car was so rich. I have never heard of running 25 degrees initial, but that is where my car is now. I talked to Performance Distributors, and he told me that he curved it especially for my cam, compression, and carb. He then told me anywhere between 20-26 degrees initial is where I should be at.

After that, I backed the throttle plates down a bunch, adjusted the idle mixture screws, and drilled out the air bleed jets with a 3/32 bit. Now it is still a tad rich at idle, but crisp as can be when running on the street. You can be cruising in 4th gear, nail the throttle, and get sideways....crazy.

So I am going to order the idle restrictor jet blanks, and dial down the fuel mixture at idle...and then everything should be golden.

Again, thank you all for the help!

Glad it worked out.

Although the Demon and Holley on similar.....the Demon has different tuning requirements.....as you have seen.

Good job!
