Does anyone know the brand/model number on the earlier 2.3L turbo carbs?

don't know brand model, but I did see a new old stock being auctioned on ebay. You might want to search there to get an idea. I think they came from 79 and others.

Should be a Motorcraft 5200. It goes by many names as it has a strange history. It was a Weber design origonally used by Holley as their 5200 or 5210. Ford adapted it to their specifications for use on their engines and it became the Motorcraft 5200. So, really it can be called a Holley/Weber 5200, Holley 5200, Weber 5200, or Motorcraft 5200. If you're looking for a replacement carb, go with a Weber DFEV. They are still made and come complete for about 300-400 bucks. It's a direct bolt-on as the carburetor you have now was derived from the DFEV. If you need a rebuild kit, I just rebuilt mine (came from a 1980 2.3L capri) and got a full kit from Advance Auto.

Honestly i'm looking for a turbo carb for a Toyota and the turbo Mustangs came to mind. I do own a 92 Stang LX that was a 4 cylinder original and converted to a 4 cylinder turbo fuel injected. Its in the 5.0 conversion process.

Check with Weber. They make kits for most older vehicles. If you call them, they will hook you up with the right carburetor and even calibrate it to your needs.
