Hey ! so i have a 1968 mustang with a 289 and a 2 bbl motorcraft carburetor. and i cannot for the life of me find where the codes to Identify it are! =/ anyone know where i can find the ID #s? I cannot by a Carb rebuild kit without knowing what kinda carburetor i have....
If your 68 has a Motorcraft carb, it's probably not right for your car. Motorcraft started in 1972. If it is the right size, you'll be fine, because the Ford 2V carb uses the same kit regardless.
Unless you need to drive the car over there, do what I did. Take the carb off the car and take it with you. Hopefully, your parts guy is savvy enough to be able to identify it for you in order to get the right kit.
All 2100 carbs take the same kit. Which is good, because your Motorcraft carb is NOT original on your car. But if the counterman is too dumb to look it up, look at the left front corner of the carb:
