Cassette Player Problem

I have a 99' cobra with the mach 460 am/fm/cassette/cd player. When I put any cassette in it sounds as if it is muffled and distant, any suggetions?

Run a head cleaner through it.
You can get one at any media store.

K thanks, I also just read about demagnetizing on the web. I am going to radio shack right now to get some supplies and see waht happens

Get rid of that cassette player...get a CD changer!

It has cd also and I never thought I would use cassette again but I am taking a road trip up north this week and I found a cassette of best of car talk the radio show with click and clack and wanted to listen to it. The head cleaner/ demagnetizer combo thingie i found at radio shack wouldnt stay in the player it just kept ejecting it

I fixed it!!! It just need ed a cleaning with a q tip with rubbing alchohol.The q tip diddnt even get visible dirty but It actually fixed it!! Thanks all, Now I can rock out to my tears for fears tape
